Item type: Persona , Ramírez Chávez, Eduardo JuventinoProfesor investigadorItem type: Ítem , Contracting and Safety Exploring Outsourcing Practices in High-Hazard Industries(Springer International Publishing, 2022) Jan Hayes; Stéphanie TillementThis open access book examines the increase in outsourcing, contracting and subcontracting as ways of organising work. It explores the impact of these employment arrangements on public safety, particularly when they are linked to complex supply networks in a range of engineering industries including oil and gas, nuclear power and aviation. The brief provides practical recommendations on how best to manage arrangements that target short-term profitability and also maintain excellence in long-term safety outcomes. The brief is a source of advice for organisations on how to maximise the benefits and minimise long-term system reliability issues that can be introduced by contracting and outsourcing, rather than assuming it to be a wholly negative or positive practice.Item type: Ítem , Regenerative Territories Dimensions of Circularity for Healthy Metabolisms(Springer International Publishing, 2022) Libera Amenta; Michelangelo Russo; Arjan van TimmerenThis open access book provides new perspectives on circular economy and space, explored towards the definition of regenerative territories characterised by healthy metabolisms. Going beyond the mere reuse/recycle of material waste as resources, this work aims to understand how to apply circularity principles to, among others, the regeneration of wastescapes. The main focus is the development over time, and in particular the way how spatial planning and strategies respond to new unpredictable urgencies and opportunities related with territorial metabolisms. The book specifically focuses on living labs environments, where it is possible to tackle complex problems through a multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder approach - including the use of digital spatial decision support environment – which could be able to include all the involved stakeholders.Item type: Ítem , Feminist Methodologies Experiments, Collaborations and Reflections(Springer International Publishing, 2022) Wendy Harcourt; Karijn van den Berg; Constance Dupuis; ,Jacqueline GayborThis open access book gives insights into feminist methodologies in theory and practice. By foregrounding the experiential and embodied nature of doing feminist research, this book offers valuable tools for feminist research as a continuous praxis. Emerging from a rich collective learning process, the collection offers in-depth reflections on how feminists shape research questions, understand positionality, share research results beyond academe and produce feminist intersectional knowledges. This book reveals how the authors navigate theory and practice, candidly exploring the difficulty of producing knowledge on the edge of academia and activism. From different points of view, places and disciplinary positions, artistic and creative experiments and collaborations, the book provides a multi-layered analysis. This book will be a valuable resource and asset to early career researchers and interdisciplinary feminist students who can learn more about the doing of feminist researchfrom realistic, accessible, and practical methodological tools and knowledge.Item type: Ítem , Diversidad microbiana del sistema de manglar Estero Pargo, Campeche, México(El autor, 2025) Pérez González Leonardo Daniel; Rosas Landa Mirna Vázquez (Directora de tesis)El estudio de las comunidades microbianas brinda información sobre los procesos ecológicos, biológicos y biogeoquímicos que se llevan a cabo en los ecosistemas...Item type: Ítem , Efecto de la temperatura en el crecimiento de Alexandrium sp. (Dinophyta) en co-cultivo con Aspergillus sp. (Ascomycota), aislado de la Bahía Tangolunda, Huatulco, Oaxaca.(El autor, 2025) Ríos Martínez Areli Marisol; Santiago Morales Ivonne Sandra (Directora de tesis)Los florecimientos algales son fenómenos naturales caracterizados por la acumulación de biomasa algal, y cambios en la coloración del agua...Item type: Ítem , Evolutionary Equations Picard's Theorem for Partial Differential Equations, and Applications(Springer International Publishing, 2022) Christian Seifert; Sascha Trostorff; Marcus WaurickThis open access book provides a solution theory for time-dependent partial differential equations, which classically have not been accessible by a unified method. Instead of using sophisticated techniques and methods, the approach is elementary in the sense that only Hilbert space methods and some basic theory of complex analysis are required. Nevertheless, key properties of solutions can be recovered in an elegant manner. Moreover, the strength of this method is demonstrated by a large variety of examples, showing the applicability of the approach of evolutionary equations in various fields. Additionally, a quantitative theory for evolutionary equations is developed.Item type: Ítem , Micro-Management of Irregular Migration Internal Borders and Public Services in London and Barcelona(Springer International Publishing, 2022) Reinhard SchweitzerThis open access book provides an analysis of the functioning, consequences and inherent limitations of internalised immigration control. By adopting the perspective of irregular residents as well as local service providers, the book sheds new light on the intricate mechanisms that either help or hinder the diffusion of immigration control into concrete institutional settings, like schools or hospitals. A simple and innovative analytical framework enables the systematic comparison of three different spheres of service provision across two distinct local as well as also national contexts. This is necessary to understand the complex interplay between formal law and policy, the intrinsic rules and logics operating within institutions, and the ethical or practical obligations and constraints attached to particular roles and professions. Based on empirical findings and rigorous analysis, the book argues that internalised control is part of the problem that irregular migration poses for society, rather than constituting a potential solution to it.Item type: Ítem , Aviation Noise Impact Management Technologies, Regulations, and Societal Well-being in Europe(Springer International Publishing, 2022) Laurent Leylekian; Alexandra Covrig; Alena MaximovaThis open access book provides a view into the state-of-the-art research on aviation noise and related annoyance. The book will primarily focus on the achievements of the ANIMA project (Aviation Noise Impact Management through Novel Approaches), but not exclusively. The content has a broader theme in order to encompass. regulation issues, the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) balanced approach, progresses made on technologies and reduction of noise at source, impact of possible future civil supersonic aircraft, land-use planning issues, as well as the core topics of the ANIMA project, i.e. impact on human beings, annoyance, quality of life, health and findings of the project in this respect.Item type: Ítem , Handbook of Digital Face Manipulation and Detection From DeepFakes to Morphing Attacks(Springer International Publishing, 2022) Christian Rathgeb; Ruben Tolosana; Ruben Vera-Rodriguez; Christoph BuschThis open access book provides the first comprehensive collection of studies dealing with the hot topic of digital face manipulation such as DeepFakes, Face Morphing, or Reenactment. It combines the research fields of biometrics and media forensics including contributions from academia and industry. Appealing to a broad readership, introductory chapters provide a comprehensive overview of the topic, which address readers wishing to gain a brief overview of the state-of-the-art. Subsequent chapters, which delve deeper into various research challenges, are oriented towards advanced readers. Moreover, the book provides a good starting point for young researchers as well as a reference guide pointing at further literature. Hence, the primary readership is academic institutions and industry currently involved in digital face manipulation and detection. The book could easily be used as a recommended text for courses in image processing, machine learning, media forensics, biometrics, and the general security area.
